The French Axe, or Vertical Axis system is comprised of a central leader tree on a single, or multi-wire vertical trellis. The trees are generally 10 - 14 feet high and 5 - 6 feet wide. This gives the trees a narrow pyramidal shape, with branches becoming more sparse as it reaches the top.
